Flexibility Online Schools

Online schools offer students a lot more flexibility and room for independent learning. This is a major advantage for students studying in higher grades. They can work on their course curriculum without the necessity of adult supervision, which offers them more autonomy in terms of varying the pace of their course. Any help that is needed is available via online modes of communication integral to online education. Students can opt for an entirely online mode of study or a blended format that combines old-school learning techniques with new-age methods. Students from younger grades however, do require adult supervision and guidance from time to time. The results however, have been overwhelming. Research has shown that improved cognitive learning abilities as well as better retention capacities are the results of employing the right e-learning techniques along with proper supervision of younger children.

When compared with the quality of education imparted via traditional environments, online schools not only match up to the same but in some cases, have even delivered better results. Being able to study online has provided students with access to many more schools as well as qualified teachers across the nation. Traditional limitations no longer exist and students from abroad too, find enrolling in to an online school a lot more economical and feasible. Gaining access to accredited schools in the United States has become much easier, which in turn has contributed to the increase in interest among students especially in terms of credit recovery and Advanced Placement courses. These online solutions are designed to deliver holistic learning solutions targeted at helping students develop the right skills and provide them with the tools to secure more lucrative jobs.

While enrolling for online learning options may seem lucrative, care must be taken to ensure the school has all the required accreditation. Over the years, several schools have cropped up that serve no better purpose than to offer students high school degree without really requiring them to put in the hard work necessary. These ‘diploma mills’ have contributed to the damaging image of online schools in the United States and elsewhere and are responsible for the apprehensions witnessed by many parents. Degrees or diplomas earned from such schools do not carry weight and students with such credentials often find it hard to secure jobs based on them. It would be the wise decision to explore all the necessary information before adopting online learning solutions to prevent any hurdles in the future.

Effective eLearning Course

Presentation of the content

Often, people present the entire content on one side. This is a mistake. If you want to show a lot of content, you can present it on several sides. This is a great thing for presenting the content in the best way possible.

Template

Templates should be free of distraction. It’s not about decoration only. The sign of an effective design is that it spurs on the learners to pay more attention to the content instead of the decoration. The worst thing you can do is distracting the learners. Instead, you should get rid of all the components that are not relevant. When designing a template, it is a good idea to stick to the important elements and avoid the distractive elements. After all, you don’t want to end up losing a lot of good learners just because you have a bad template.

White space

White space and content are equally important. So, you don’t need to fill up white space with content. As a matter of fact, white spaces helps you know a lot of important things. Aside from this, white space lets you present your ideas in a better way.

Use of colors

For any visual design, color carries a lot of significance. Colors can help you trigger the right emotions of the target audience. Ideally, you should make use of soft backgrounds. On the other hand, for text, you should use dark colors. Adding several colors is not a good idea. Instead, you may want to use a few colors to make the course more appealing for the learners.

Consistency

People with little design experience end up designing courses with mismatched colors patterns of themes. As a result, learners lose focus and get confused. Experienced eLearning developers use one color pattern while guiding the learners to the central point of the course. Aside from this, background and fonts are also important. Actually, the overall look of the course should motivate the learners.

Information of Distance Education

The most prominent benefit of distance education is the convenience it offers. The busy individual, as well as the one who prefers comfort, is well catered for here. Classes can be attended anywhere and at any time. This aspect effectively eliminates much of the stuff that makes education unsustainably costly.

Closely related to convenience is the flexibility that distance education offers. Conventional education has specific location and time demands. Distance learning eliminates these requirements and allows a student to set a pace that suits them. Slow learners and the linguistically challenged (for instance ESL speakers) can, therefore, move at their pace and grasp as much as they can.

The cost factor also comes in quite strongly as a benefit of distance education. Many students miss study abroad chances because they cannot afford travel and accommodation costs. Thanks to distance learning, such costs are no longer an impediment. It also cuts tuition costs by a sizeable margin, making it affordable.

On the cons side, the most prominent factor is the lack of direct contact with instructors and peers. Even with online forums, this problem remains unsolved. The lack of direct contact eliminates question and answer sessions, which are sometimes highly insightful. This aspect makes it suitable only for those who are self-driven.

Another con is that since students conduct their studies wherever they choose, they miss the ambiance provided by the campus atmosphere. Campuses are typically designed to maximize learning and as such, those who study off campus miss out on this benefit.

On top of these challenges, distance education still suffers stigmatization despite its growing popularity. Employers often question the integrity of distance learning. Consequently, those who go through these programs may find the job market quite hostile towards them.

Practice, Practice and Practice

When you think you’re ready, complete sample questions if any to get a feel of the actual exam. And if you find you’re not quite ready yet, repeat steps 1-4.

Determine When You Will Take The Test

You may have to take the exam at a specific time; however, if the test will be available for several hours (or even a few days), choose a time that presents the least potential for distraction, interruption, and stress.

Gather All That You’ll Need To Take The Test

If you can have materials such as notes, books, or writing implements with you, be sure that they’re set to go.

Take A Deep Breath

Once you’re logged in, take a moment to relax and get focused.

During the Online Exam:

Focus

Keep an eye on the clock. You may want to set an alarm to notify you when you have limited time (e.g., 10 minutes) remaining in your testing period. Print and save copies of the test questions, as well as your answers. These will prove extremely helpful if you have technical problems during the test or if you encounter issues while submitting your answers.

First, write short-answers or essay questions in a word-processing program. This makes it easier to edit and check your work. Once you’re done, then cut and paste your answer into the designated field on your exam site.

Don’t Leave The Test Page

If you are permitted to search the web or check other websites for information, do not use the same tab or copy of the browser as you do for your exam you may lose all your work. Instead, open a second copy of your browser (or, choose a completely different browser), then conduct your search.

Having Some Technical Problems?

Don’t panic. But contact your instructor immediately detailing the exact problem that occurred and any error messages you might have received. If you can take a screen shot, that is helpful as well.

Check Your Work Before You Submit It

Ensure that every answer is complete and appears as you intended. Review the accuracy of your answers, as well as your spelling and grammar.

Click Submit

You should only need to do so once, but if you have a problem, try once more. If you still have a problem submitting the test, let your instructor know immediately, and send your intended answers in an attached document.

Tricks Make Online Education Attractive

Education as we all know is a life-long activity. At any point in time, whether you dropped out of school or got honors at your graduation, you would need education. The school dropout who has found himself a vocation or gained employment needs education so he/she can be more productive, the dropout who has realized the need to school but has ‘grown past school going age’ and desires to school obviously needs education, managers as well as employees need further education in order to keep pace with today’s rapidly changing world and gain increased wages and status respectively. Somehow, the traditional education dependent society we have created for ourselves and considers the ‘best’, limits our quest for continuing education. For many people, formal education ended the day they dropped out or graduated from High School, College or University, even though, technology makes it possible for us to sit in our houses and still get quality education.

When technology – computers and internet connectivity – replaced physical classrooms and made it possible to study by distance in real time, it appeared the issue of continuous education for everyone, including the dropout and the working class have been solved. It appeared, and still does, that now the teacher need not leave his students, apply for study-leave or leave of absence to pursue further education. It appeared the fifty-year-old woman who dropped out of school several years ago could now school from home and it appeared the father could learn what his daughter is learning at College using the same device he uses to call her. That is what it appeared. Those who dropped out of school due to issues of finance and have not since had a breakthrough would not benefit, and those who have the money would not want to put their money into a certificate employers and academicians alike would frown upon. So little appear to have changed for these two groups of people, though online Colleges and Universities abound.

Two prime issues are to blame. First, online education is too expensive for the target group of learners and second, there is the perception that online Colleges and Universities do not provide holistic education like the traditional Colleges and Universities. As indicated by Ed Vosganian – founder and CEO of College Funding 123, the cost of on-campus University for undergraduate is estimated at 42,000 dollars while for the same group it cost around 21,000 dollars for online universities. By comparison we would say that it cost far less to study via online. But we need not lose sight of those who mostly enroll in online University. It is those in the middle and lower classes who opt for online universities. They include; the employee who has sacrificed pleasure for higher qualification in return for better wages, the unemployed who wants to gain employable skills, the dropout who wants to get back to school in the hope that there will be a brighter future, and the people living in the remote part of the world, especially in the developing world, who don’t even have the money to pay fees and so would have to learn and work simultaneously. To these 21,000 dollars is money so huge, it is very difficult to raise. There are people of the higher income class who enroll in online universities, but online learning is not popular among these due to low prestige and the myths associated with online education. The online institutions will tell you, they would not put anything on your certificate to show that you received a non-traditional education. This kind of advert speaks of how society values online education. Online education is considered a cheap way of getting ‘watered down’ education. Online Colleges and Universities were until recently considered diploma mills. This perception still exists, though empirical evidence tells us there is no disparity in quality of students from traditional Colleges and Universities on one hand and online Colleges and Universities on the other. The online Universities and Colleges are doing their best to make online learning prestigious and bring down study cost, but they cannot do it alone. With government intervention online learning can become prestigious and lower and middle class friendly.

Government should provide a national framework for online education, subsidize accreditation, and grant scholarships and student loans for students in online Colleges and Universities. A national framework to guide the operations of all online colleges and universities should be instituted by the state, through the Department of Education or the relevant government agency. This framework, which would be descriptive and not prescriptive in nature would describe, for example, the minimum courses to be taken at a given level, and the general mode of operation of online universities and colleges without prescribing specific courses or mode of operation. Accreditation is not just laborious for online Colleges and Universities; it is also expensive. This cost is passed to students, souring up program fees. If the government decides to absorb half the cost of accreditation, though there is no guarantee the program fees will be halved, the program fee would be reduced somehow. Lastly, most of the students who opt for online colleges and universities do not receive scholarships and student loans from the state. Those who receive something do not get huge scholarships and student loans like their counterparts in traditional Colleges and Universities. Government should make scholarships and students loans available to students of online Colleges and Universities just as it does for students in traditional Colleges and Universities.

The ramifications of these interventions would definitely be awesome. Providing a national framework for online education would take away the false negative perception people have about online learning. Many think online learning is easy and also the number of credits taken are far less than those taken in traditional learning settings. This thinking exists because there are some poorly designed online courses in which certificate are awarded after just a couple of assignments have been submitted. Such practices can be stopped, when a national framework is developed and operationalized. A national framework will give credibility to online learning, because a national standard for online would have to be adhered to and so no online college or university can just sell certificate. Subsidizing Accreditation will yield three results. The most obvious is that, it would reduce program fees because amount to pass to the students would be less. Subsidizing accreditation fees would encourage online Colleges and Universities to seek accreditation from accrediting bodies recognize by the Department of Education or the appropriate state agency. Even though accreditation is not compulsory in some parts of the world, like the united states, some occupation that require state licensing would not accept degree from non-accredited Colleges and University. Prospective online learners are, usually, worried about whether the can easily work with their certificates. Government intervention would remove this worry and remove the negative perception people have about online education as well. Government interventions in the form of scholarship and loans would ease the financial burden and make it possible for those who hitherto would not be able to school to do so. In sum, government intervention would go a long way to produce an enlightened society by permitting many people to receive higher education.

All about Multimedia Patient Education

Among the essential elements of patient education develops skills, responsibility and group effort: patients should know when, how and what to do should include changing the way of life and every member of the medical team of the patient. Since technology has given us new ways of delivering education to patients and health care providers, the availability of resources, formats and techniques have increased dramatically.

Choosing the right resources and making the most of the limited educational budgets are becoming more and more difficult. Education is playing an increasingly important role in the care of patients and their families are faced with many difficult decisions that could potentially have a major impact on their health and quality of life.

The multimedia is better than no training or education, given as part of routine clinical care to improve the knowledge of the patient. There is great variation in the results from six studies that compared the multimedia training usual care or no training. But all but one of the six studies favored multimedia training. We also found that multimedia education is superior to usual care or no training to improve levels. The review also suggested that multimedia is at least as effective as other forms of training, including training or written brief training of health professionals.

Multimedia program to educate patients about medicines:

  • Multimedia learning about medicine is more effective than usual care (non-standardized education of health professionals as part of normal clinical care) or no education, improvement, and acquisition of knowledge and skills.
  • Multimedia training for at least another form of education, training, and education are included in the health care professional is the same as written. However, this finding is based on the often low-quality evidence from a small number of attempts.
  • Multimedia education about drugs can, therefore, be considered as a supplement to conventional therapy, but there is insufficient evidence to recommend it as a substitute for a written instruction or training health worker.
  • Multimedia education can be considered as a supplement to conventional treatment, but there is insufficient evidence to recommend it as a substitute for a written instruction or training health worker.
  • Multimedia training can be considered as an alternative to the training of health care workers, especially in areas where it is not possible to provide detailed training health worker.

Digital Connectivity Education

Offering dedicated, uninterrupted and cost-effective connectivity options to students to help them access and exploit the global reservoirs of information and information tools for better learning, understanding and experience.

Enabling virtual collaboration facilities amongst students and faculty to improve information exchange; promote collaborative learning and exchange of ideas.

Encouraging and enabling teachers to devise digitally stimulating and compatible teaching methods. And use technology for improving children’s learning capabilities.

Facilitating online interaction of parents with teachers for improved liaison.

The realization of the above objectives is possible with the collaborative efforts of the four most important factors:

Leadership: There is a need for strong, decisive and long term leadership in the space of digital education. If our governments and educational institutions can come together put in place such strong leadership, it will go a long way in improving education using digital connectivity.

Infrastructure: While several improvements have come about in the connectivity space. The last-mile connectivity is still a challenge in far flung areas. Without the right infrastructure it would not be possible to employ connectivity any better.

Teacher’s Involvement: Teachers & faculty must take the most important step in integrating connectivity & digital tools to improve learning amongst children. Teachers are the vital cog in the wheel to use increased connectivity in education.

Learning Resource: As connectivity improves, there is now an acute need for learning resources to be available in the digital formats. This will encourage students to use the connectivity channels more authoritatively.
